Frequently Asked Questions
IS GAILL Cloud-based or On-Premise?
GAILL was designed with our customers in mind. You can choose between Cloud-based or On-premise. There is no price difference.
What are the minimum requirements for the On-Premise software?
– Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 (any version)
– System requirement: 64-bit Intel or AMD system
– Diskspace and memory:
+ At least 8 GB of RAM
+ At least 32 GB diskspace (SSD is preferred)
– Video card: any graphic card available
How long does it take to install GAILL?
With accurate customer data, GAILL can be installed and fully configured within 30 minutes. She will immediately start learning your network and identifying pipeline anomalies.
What are the water network requirements for GAILL to operate?
The water network requirements for GAILL to operate include:
– GIS data of the water distribution network.
– Consumption data, preferably with Automated Meter Reading (AMR) or Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) capabilities. However, manually collected data can also be utilized if AMR/AMI is not available.
– Flow and Pressure data (Inlet and other available sensors)
We already use acoustic or other forms of leak detection. Why do we need GAILL?
System-wide acoustic deployments are expensive to install and maintain. They are prone to equipment failures and external noise interference. Hand-held or other locally deployed detection methods are extremely slow and labor intensive. Furthermore, they are only valid for the exact time of survey. GAILL monitors your pipeline system 24×7 and detects anomalies as frequently as your time-series data is updated (usually minute-by-minute). GAILL detects anomalies with an accuracy between two junctions.
Do I need other leak detection methods in addition to GAILL?
GAILL detects leaks with the accuracy between two junctions. The distance between junctions varies by network, but typically averages 10 meters. This is usually accurate enough to find the anomaly. However, in cases where the distance between junctions is farther, GAILL can recommend the placement of temporary sensors (acoustic, flow measuring, or pressure measuring) to improve GAILL’s location accuracy. When the anomaly is repaired, the sensors can be redeployed, saving equipment and operations costs.
DOES GAILL speak our language?
GAILL can speak and report in any language. She has no language limitations. If your language is not already pre-installed, GAILL will have it mastered in one hour.
How do you charge for GAILL’s services?
We use the SAAS model for both the Cloud-based system and the On-Premise system. Both are maintained using state of the art, software update methodologies. You can pay by the month or by the year (at a discount) per DMA. We do not have a minimum number of DMAs, but we do have discounts for large systems.
When will I start seeing benefits from GAILL?
GAILL starts providing meter anomaly detection as soon as the system goes live (usually within 30 minutes). GAILL needs to learn your pipeline operations and will usually start accurately reporting pipeline anomalies within 15 days.
Is GAILL easy to operate?
GAILL can be connected directly to your data historian. In this configuration, GAILL operates independently. An operator is only required to select the report options, including work order generation. GAILL has many sort and filter options for optimal reporting and Work Order generation. If not connected directly to your data historian, a person simply needs to upload the daily time series data.
Do I need SCADA? What if I already have SCADA?
GAILL does not need SCADA. However, GAILL enhances your SCADA capabilities, finding anomalies well before they appear on your SCADA system.
Does GAILL produce Work Orders for repair crews?
GAILL has multiple filters and sorting options to help you prioritize and deliver Work Orders. The work orders (digital or paper) have resolution options for reporting back to GAILL to improve her accuracy.
